This year, the Inter-house Swimming Carnival will be held on Friday, 27 January.

Swimming is regarded as a high risk activity, this means that students require parental permission to participate. High risk notes were sent home with students on the first day of school, if your child has not received a note or requires a new one, they can get one from the HPE staffroom in M Block or from the School Office. Notes are to be returned by Wednesday, 25 January, but will still be accepted Friday morning. Students will not be permitted to enter the water without a signed permission note. This will be checked on the day and wristbands will be distributed to students who have consent.

Students are required to be at Swim Fit Chinchilla no later than 8.45 am. Those catching buses can disembark at St Joseph’s Primary School and walk to the pool. Race marshalling for 50m Freestyle will commence at 9.00 am; Breaststroke, Backstroke, Butterfly and Relays will follow throughout the day.

Although we encourage all students to dress in house colours, clothing must be sun safe. When students aren’t competing they should be wearing sleeved shirts (no singlets), shorts, hats and enclosed shoes. Sunscreen will be available and students are encouraged to keep hydrated throughout the day. The canteen will also be operating on the day.

Students are not permitted to bring the following: coloured hair spray, marker pens, silly spray, air horns, streamers, balloons, jewellery or inflatables. Staff will confiscate items if they see them.

At 3.00 pm students will be dismissed from the pool. Those catching a bus will be accompanied by staff to St Joseph’s Primary School where they can board.

Please note that times will not be given to students or parents on the day and will be posted the following week at school. If you have any further questions regarding the Swimming Carnival please don’t hesitate to contact the school.
