It’s the time of year when the annual Personality Quest (PQ) Ball has arrived. We missed out celebrating this event last year, so hope that students can come along to support their entrants in 2021.

The ball is on Friday 18 June in M Block on Rennick Street. It will start at 6.00pm and conclude at 10.00pm. Students will not be permitted to leave the Hall before this time unless a parent or guardian comes to the front door of the Hall.

The PQ Ball is intended as an extra-curricular opportunity for all eligible Chinchilla State High School students. The event is an affordable, safe and fun evening where students can further develop their social skills, mixing with students of all year levels and teachers.

The Ball is not themed; however students are asked to consider comfort and practicality in choosing their attire for the evening.

For the boys: a pair of slacks, button up shirt and a tie are encouraged.

For the girls: dresses or skirts need to be at least knee or near-knee length and shoes that they are comfortable to dance in throughout the night these must be flat, no heels.

Borrowing or wearing an outfit from a previous event is most acceptable. The Ball was not created as a fashion contest, and prizes will not be awarded for outfits.

Eligibility to attend this year’s PQ Ball is based on the following:

  • Students are to have no more than three behaviour documented incidences recorded for Term 2
  • Attendance of 90% or above in Term 2 *
  • School fee payments are finalised or payment arrangements are being met
  • Attendance at school on Friday 18 June **

*  We understand some students will have extenuating circumstances for attendance rates below 90% and encourage those students to discuss this with their relevant Head of Year or Deputy Principal. These conversations must be had by Thursday 17 June, as tickets will not be sold after this date. Secondly, students are required to have no more than three OneSchool incidences recorded for Term 2.

**  Students must also attend school for the entire day on the day of the Ball (18 June). Leaving for a beautician appointment is not a justified reason to be absent from school. The focus should be on having fun and being present as a group.

In order to purchase a ticket to the Ball, students first need to see their Head of Year.

  • Year 7 and 8 need to see Mrs Mead
  • Year 9 and 10 need to see Mrs Hill
  • Year 11 and 12 need to see Mrs Jones.

Students need to see their Head of Year during morning tea. The Head of Year will then check the eligibility criteria described above. If the student meets the criteria they will be supplied with a green ticket at morning tea the following day to take to the office for their PQ Ball entrance ticket.

PQ Ball tickets are $10 (must be paid before ticket is received) and are on sale at the School Office from Monday 31 May until Thursday 17 June.

On the evening of the Ball there will be a canteen operating for students to purchase water, soft drinks and snack food, and there will also be supper provided.

The Personality Quest judging will take place on Tuesday 15 June, once all Form Classes have selected entrants. Our judging panel will consist of Councillor Peter Saxelby, Mrs Coralee Hyland and Chappy Mark Nelson.

We hope that all students will take this opportunity to support the PQ entrants by attending the Ball and make some special memories at the same time.
